Home Builders Association includes the people and companies who build and supply new homes for the families of Southeastern Michigan and metropolitan Detroit. We are a non-profit advocate for the home building industry including builders, remodelers, property owners, developers and suppliers to the single family and multifamily residential construction industry. Our membership is affiliated with the Home Builders Association of Michigan in Lansing and the National Association of Home Builders in Washington, D.C. Across the nation, our membership includes over 235,000 individuals and companies. Featuring local designers and homes, Design and Living Magazine focuses on different aspects of local design and living arrangements and the people who make them possible. The fall edition of the 36th annual Sacramento Home and Garden Show is returning to Cal Expo with the newest in landscaping, gardening, patios, fencing, decks, heating and air, solar, insulation, remodeling, new construction and plumbing. The Annual Home and Garden Show for 2017 is coming in February at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.
Now in its second year, the Home Builders Care Foundation Beer Walk will happen the last two hours of the show Friday and Saturday. Attendees pay just $5 to sample a variety of beers at exhibitor booths. The first stop on the hunt is booth C565, Design Direction, Inc., located near the east entrance. Pick up a treasure hunt map and special backpack for your kids to carry all their treasures. After that, it’s up to you to make your own path and stop at as many participating booths as you’d like.

It has been a few years since I have been to one of our local Home & Garden Shows, but I am going to try to make it to one this year. There will be dozens of vendors displaying plants and home services. You are guaranteed to get in the mood for spring regardless of what the weatehr wil be that weekend.
Home Builders Care of Fargo Moorhead Foundation is hosting its third annual LEGO homebuilding competition at the Red River Valley Home & Garden Show on February 25. Children ages 5 to 12 will compete in building houses out of LEGOS. Structures can be single-or multifamily, but must be homes. The homes will be judged on creativity, structure and livability. Susan is a retiree who enjoys the community aspect of the show, heading out with her friends to take in the workshops and prepare for her summer of gardening and grilling. Maria is a mom who’s excited to walk around the show to make home improvement plans, while her husband helps the kids find “treasures” at different booths or construct a LEGO creation.

Free for children meeting the age requirements, there are only 20 spots available in each of the four age groups. Pre-registration is required using the online form at hbcfm.com. Each registrant will receive two free tickets to enter the Red River Valley Home & Garden Show. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.
